I find that people are still happy to engage in conversation on these topics from time ...

Charming, witty and clearly written, I think this book will appeal to many, I find it especially helpful in cases where people look at me in horror when I dump armfuls of thick philosophical and theological texts in front of them with the recommendation that they read them, weirdly enough people aren't so keen on spending hours, days, or months of their lives studying topics that they have little to no interest in... :p

However, I find that people are still happy to engage in conversation on these topics from time to time indicating that there is at least a spark of interest to work with and this book is just the thing to help fan the flames.

There are a couple of controversial stances on some issues that the author takes which I feel is worth noting for those Christians who have very strong views to the contrary, specifically for example, a more liberal view of homosexuality.

All in all though, I've found this book to be really helpful in reaching out to people and I'm going on to to purchasing my second hard copy

Seriously. Kindle version says this is 525 pages long. If there is a page number then its ready to be published. Why all of the games????? The author has been more worried about writing 'Fanfiction' for her Vampire Diaries series than finishing a book people have been DYING to read for 20+ years. Seriously NOT COOL.

About the Author
Author of The Beyond Mind Papers Elias Capriles studied Philosophy at the graduate level at the Central University of Venezuela (Caracas), and at the postgraduate level at the University of The Andes (Merida, Venezuela). He carried out his studies on Buddhist and in general Asian spirituality, philosophy and psychology outside academic institutions, with Tibetan teachers and through his own reading and research. The same applies to his studies on psychology, which were carried out through extensive readings and his own practice at the spiritual emergency refuges he ran in India and Nepal in the mid 1970s. He also carried out his own independent psychedelic research in the 1960s and 1970s in Venezuela, India and Nepal. He teaches philosophy, Buddhism, Asian art and elective subjects at the University of The Andes in Merida, Venezuela (formerly as Chairman of Eastern Studies, currently in the Research Center on Africa and Asia), and is an instructor in the Santi Maha Sangha training in Buddhism and Dzogchen in the International Dzogchen Community presided by Dzogchen Master Chogyal Namkhai Norbu. From 1977 through December 1982 he spent most of his time in retreat, intensively practicing Dzogchen in caves and cabins in the Himalayas. He has authored fourteen books in Spanish a:nd English, of which 11 were published in Nepal, Spain and/or Venezuela; he has posted provisional versions of another five books in English on his website; and has had over forty articles and several book chapters (English and Spanish) published in the US, Spain, France, Italy, India, Russia, Venezuela and El Salvador (these deal with comparative philosophy, transpersonal psychology, political philosophy, philosophy of history, political ecology, Buddhism, Dzogchen, Asian and Latin American history, Asian religions and mysticism, the history of Asian religions, sociology, etc.). His work has been discussed in books on Latin American philosophy in France, Spain, Mexico and Venezuela; in papers in the Journal of Transpersonal Psychology and several other academic journals; and in various encyclopedia entries.

It is full of excellent information and how to instructions to get your practice to #1 on google, how to get in the door with physicians and other referring health care practitioners and how to get patients to refer their friends family and co-workers. This book teaches you specific strategies to use to market you practice using the internet and personal connections with out asking for a handout. The tactics in this book have worked for me and I highly recommend it.

The Must have marketing book for private practice owners!!!

I got this book at a conference that Nitin was giving to help private practice owners supercharge their business. After listening to his first lecture I wanted to learn more about him his methods so I purchased this book.

As physical therapists, we are raised in a culture in which self-promotion is considered to be in bad taste. Most private practice owners cringe every time they need to advertise. Personally, I recognize the need to make people aware of my presence in the community. I know that unless I tell people who I am, what I do and how to get in touch with me, they will not know I exist. I think our entire community must recognize that and fix it.

When I bought Nitin's book, I had little if any expectations and was hoping it would give me one or two nuggets of useful information. I was pleasantly surprised. As a flipped through the chapters and started making notes about all the strategies Nitin revealed, I felt as if Nitin wrote the book just for me. This book gives you the precise 'how tos' and the 'whys' of marketing your practice and growing it - it's truely a no nonsense book. It's easy to read, contains practical information on topics as diverse as patient retention, customer service marketing to physicians, website optimization, community recognition and most importantly mindset.

Nitin, you deserve a big round of applause from the entire physical therapy community for a book that tells it like it is, with nothing held back. I'm already following you on your blog, and am glad you provide honest, sincere and credible business and marketing advice. Keep up the good work.

This Changed My Business View Completely!

I pride myself in being organized and focused when it comes to work. I know what I want and I thought I knew how to get there. But after reading Nitin's book on how to grow my practice, I realized that there are some significant gaps in my knowledge of how to grow any practice in these economic times. Too many rely on existing patients referrals without actively conditioning them. I was one to think that since many come back to visit that they were also referring it to others. Boy I was wrong!

From the first chapter alone, I had a few shocking revelations why my private practice as a physical therapist is growing slower than I expected. Again, I do not condition my existing patients to let others know how awesome their experience was in my clinic. I had rapport with most of my patients and some have grown closer than being just my patients but I failed to take advantage of this relationship. As Nitin pointed out, my staff and I should get involved in the referral conditioning process. My initial reaction was to reject this concept because it seemed like over selling which most are uncomfortable with. Nitin however convinced me otherwise as he gave detailed recommendations on how to do it without the anxiety that comes from being perceived as a used car salesman.

Nitin also hit the nail right on the head when it comes to asking physicians for referrals. Using the old-fashioned approaches simply no longer cut it these days. There are even physicians out there that make physical therapists feel insignifcant after each encounter. I did not know there is another approach until I read Nitin's book.

Nitin's book is a load mine of information and specific strategies. It does not discuss topics in a general sense but gives explicit action plans on how to accomplish the ultimate goal of every private practitioner -- HOW TO GROW YOUR PRACTICE in a no nonsense way.

I highly recommend this book to all private practitioners -- not only to physical therapists but anyone who runs any kind of service based business. The author did not just discuss the problems we are facing hypothetically but he's been there and did it.

I look forward to the next volume of this book.
