John Rocco (www.roccoart.com) studied illustration at Rhode Island School of Design and The School of Visual Arts. Great content, horrible product

My daughter loves the Percy Jackson series and was very excited to receive this book to learn more about Greek mythology. Unfortunately, the book is constructed with a cheap glue spine binding. The pages started falling out almost immediately upon reading. Based on the content alone, I'd give this a 5, but since I've had to spend time and tape holding it together it only gets a 3.

"It has really good stories and humor

My 10 year old says, "Epic Epic Epic!" When pressed on why he thought it was epic, he said, "It has really good stories and humor. The old stories were shaken up a bit, and made funny."
I agree with him - this is a good way for kids to get the old Greek legends - Hercules, Perseus, Jason and the Argonauts - in a form that entertains young boys. The narrator is sly and sarcastic, and points out the icky parts of the legends well.

good but far from perfect

This book didn't really solve my problem, but it gave me a better understanding of what might have caused my claustrophobia. I expected step by step instructions to help me to get rid of my problem, but I was dragged into a history. Probably a more experienced psychologist can go deep in human mind and complete this book. I am not regret buying this book, and it is worth the time and money.

Very Helpful Resource.

As an MRI technologist I see people with claustrophobia on a daily basis. It is a very real and debilitating condition that can completely alter the life of the afflicted. In my research I have seen very few books to help those that seek relief from it. Claustrophobia: Finding Your Way Out - Hope and Help for Those Who Fear and Avoid Confined Spaces is a welcome addition. It provides a wealth of information on this serious phobia that can affect more than 10% of the population.
With candor and compassion U.K.-based psychotherapist Andrea Perry unravels the facts and misconceptions surrounding this condition. Drawing heavily on her own personal experience as a claustrophobia sufferer Ms Perry sheds much needed light on a subject that has for too long gone under the radar. In addition to personal anecdotes Claustrophobia weaves first hand interviews and references to scientific studies in a way that is both engaging and informative.
This book, believed to be the first book of its kind on the subject, will be a valuable reference to those who suffer from claustrophobia as well as to those who, like myself, interact with claustrophobic people on a regular basis. Ms Perry gives a broad picture of the condition as well as specific ways to help heal. There are five full chapters devoted to exploring ways to deal with claustrophobia, and phobias in general. As one who has overcome claustrophobia she offers hope to those currently struggling with the condition and advice for those who can help claustrophobics, including friends and family, architects and designers, medical staff, etc. Ms Perry also gives a very convincing reasoning as to why this condition is not entirely irrational as many people have been led to believe.
I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to know more about claustrophobia and how to manage it. It is a tremendous resource that would make a valuable addition to every physician office that orders an MRI. I will be urging my fellow technologists to read this insightful book.

Unique contribution to anxiety and phobia literature, but offers same solutions as most self-help books

This may be the first book written by and for sufferers of claustrophobia.
Most other anxiety self-help books devote a few pages to this phobic experience and are written by clinical observers with second-person summaries and generically as just as any other phobia and anxiety disorder.
However, after the author vividly describes the experience that triggered her phobia, she does not offer the same personal awareness and articulation of her confrontation and tolerance of this condition.
Instead, the book offers the standard array of approaches that can be found in any anxiety self-help book.

So this was a good story. The Aspect web is a really cool and unique approach to the skill system, and the story has great potential for a long future. The main character is pretty fun, can't wait to see how he reacts to combat situations. Hopefully the next volume will come out all at once, but also really soon at the same time. Fingers crossed.

I really enjoy the genre and what the author is doing with it. No generic fantasy setting with a harem for once. Though a bit short, miles better than most of the other litrpg offerings.

I like the stories

I like the stories. A little short, but I think it worth the money.
I do wish the character build was not so in-depth. It felt like I was reading a technical guide on how to build the best character. Sure there were a couple of good bits hidden in there and it stress how the Character was detailed oriented (good). But it felt so long and dry.

This book is for anyone interested in working with either C# or Visual Basic or both. Honestly, if you are a person with a trace of logical thinking and the desire to learn, you can do everything discussed in this book. The vocabulary you will need is developed in a methodical, thoughtful process by relating techniques to results. It is not a memorization exercise. My personal preference is C#, probably because I started working with "C" at AT&T Computer Systems when "C" was in its infancy. For a beginner, VB is a little less demanding and accomplishes the same job, just a little differently in terms of syntax and a few key words. Remember the old saying "Monkey see, Monkey do"? It should say "Monkey see, Monkey do, Monkey learn" The text is very focused . . . Almost every sentence is an instruction to do something . . . or explains very pointedly the expected results of what you are going to do. In most "Teach Yourself books" you read many, many pages and get (forget) concepts confused before you put them to work. Forgetting or being confused by waiting will not be your experience this time. Concepts are presented in bite-sized units that make immediate use of the ideas. The focus is "doing" I'll say it several times before we're done . . . If you're not making any mistakes, you're not trying hard enough! Experiment and learn. I progresses rapidly through the fundaments of developing and testing applications that work, with minimal discussion of issues of little or no immediate use. The vocabulary is kept to every possible extent, to plain English. The examples are written with the idea that they will be used as reference and "copy and paste" code for other application the reader will develop on their own, later. Neither time nor effort is wasted filter

This will get you oriented to Visual Studio quickly.

I'm an I.T. professional with a master's degree in computer science. Even with a degree like that under your belt, you don't simply install an integrated development environment like Visual Studio and instantly start using it like an expert. You still have to get oriented and put in your hours. I recently downloaded the free Express edition of Visual Studio from Microsoft, and am using it on a Windows 7 system. I needed a primer to get going with the basic Visual Studio skills in reasonable time.

This no-nonsense book cuts to the chase and gets you up and running fast. Distracting extraneous information is excluded, so you won't get bogged down. (Save that other stuff for later.) The way the book is written, you can choose to focus on either C# or Visual Basic, or both. I chose to focus on C#, and believe I'll have it down before the end of the year... enough to support some pet projects and possibly even be useful at work. Then, maybe I might go back and study Visual Basic.

If you're trying to get familiar with Visual Studio so you can start doing useful stuff with it soon, get this book and do exactly what it says!

Wrong code examples

The book started out fine. I thought that this was the perfect opportunity to try and teach someone to program in VB and C#, then 30 minutes after we started reading it we found out that there were mistakes on the code(chapter 3, the code for moving the input from one form to the other) which can create confusion and frustration from someone just starting to code. Good otherwise, if it was not for the mistakes in the actual code I would have given it 5 stars.

it could have been epic

Nowdays, mathematical modeling is moving from the realm of mathematical physics to the realm of (evolutionary game) dynamics. The lattter is an agent based theory that requires a psycho-ethical model (PEM). This outstanding contribution provides a way of such modeling based on the objective-participant PEM provided by the ancient greek culture. It is in sharp contrast to the semi-theological (and deeply flawed) subjective-individualistic model of Descartes and Kant. The classical model can help understand where romanticism and prewar german philosophical thought went astray (classical example Nietzsche's idealistic thoughts on wish-morality or Kant's supposedly universal moral principles which can justify one's individualistic ethics); it is the best cure against modern autistic view of the western man whose disastreous effects are now clear. Noting its objective character, it is no surprise that modern mathematical modeling of social/economic/political dynamics follows exactly the ancient greek model. This is one can see by analysing the structure of modern game theory.

The great value of the text lies on the exceptional questions and material. One could hardly thought of giving it less than five stars. Unfortunately the author's exposition is the weakest link in the whole project. Just to give an idea of what I mean: on pg 111 one reads: "His explanation is less provocative than that suggested by Nietzsche; in fact it is one that brings Bradley rather closer than Butscher to Aristotle's position on this issue. Bradley's theory of tragedy is presented as modification to Hegel's". And so it goes on. I wish one could read carefully this marvellous book and than compress it to a third of its size.

Nevertheless, this is an amazing reading that I wholeheartedly appreciate and recommend.

Intuitive Econometrics Book

This is a clearly written book on empirical data analysis that is equally valuable for both academics as well as working professionals. The authors of this book avoided matrix algebra and calculus in presenting the complex econometric models. The book stands out by its intuitive approach using many examples and without any sophisticated mathematics.

While doing empirical analysis, we often use the same kinds of solutions (or models) over and over again, and call a given solution (model) as tool and collection of solutions as toolkit. This book, a reference manual to econometrician's toolkit, explains the solution (tool) to use for a given empirical analysis problem using "Empirical Research Tool Box". Each tool box explains goal, implementation and correct interpretation of a given tool.

The toolkit covers advanced econometrics models for time series, categorical and panel data analysis.

The book presents an integrated approach on how to conduct and write up an empirical research project. Starting with data collection and management, it delves into how to describe the data, present the empirical results and conclusion.

Also Excel as the choice of data analysis tool makes this book very approachable, easy to adopt and become immediately productive even for non-statisticians. Stata commands are given for all the models in the toolkit.

This is a great book for those interested in learning econometrics from an applied standpoint. Like other reviewers said, it avoids matrix algebra and calculus, making it a great book for an applied regression or basic econometrics course for MBA students interested in making better data-driven decisions.

Who's fault is it?

This book not only puts your marriage into perspective, but it also puts your life into perspective.

During conflict we have a tendency to point a finger. The problem is that we point the finger at the wrong person. You see, we can't change others, but we can change ourselves. And this is the start of reconciliation. Is it easy? No not at all?

The problem is that we focus on our spouse to bring peace. Well why would the source of your pain bring you peace? And now you're on a crazy cycle looking to the person who causes chaos to all of a sudden bring peace. And when that doesn't happen, you despise that person more and more, and the cycle continues. It's a lose lose.

This is a Christian Book. If you don't believe that Jesus was the creator of this Universe, this book is not for you.

This book will challenge you. YOU have to be the change. You can't say "Well, I'll change if he/she changes too" or "I'll work on my marriage, if he/she does X, Y, Z." Because if you were to die today, and God asked you about your marriage. Are you going to respond like Adam & Eve and play the blame game? We are all responsible for our own actions regardless of another human being.

To sum this book up. Love Christ First. With Christ at the top, you will know how to love all others. You will know how to FORGIVE, as Christ forgives you DAILY.

It has always been about "Christ Living His Life In Us, Through Us, and As Us." When the center of most books are on "man" this book really expresses Our Father's Heart...His Son. Thank you for sharing others points of view as well it gave the book even more credibility and hope. This has been the journey for my love and I as well. We have been married for 34 years and are experiencing daily what it means to Rest In the Finished Work of Christ individually and as a couple!! THANK YOU FATHER FOR THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL AGES... The book takes you through 4 couples that are being counseled and shows you the journey they took through marriage counseling. It also offers exercises and other supplements that help you determine the state of your own marriage and how you can be complete in life by following the truths in this book. It is a must have for all marriages; ones that are hurting as well as those that just need some enrichment.
